Safety Tips
Last updated: 16 July 2026
Meeting new people should be exciting and safe. Whether you are chatting, taking part in a community, attending a meetup or booking a service, these tips help you look after yourself. Remember: never feel pressured into doing something you are not comfortable with. The “real person” badge helps, but it is not a guarantee: always stay cautious.
Online safety
- Protect your personal information. Do not share your address, workplace, bank details, passwords or identity documents.
- Keep conversations inside the app until you trust the other person. Someone who insists on moving to another platform straight away may have bad intentions.
- Be wary of rushing and of “love” that comes too fast. It is a common tactic in romance scams.
- Have a video call before meeting up, to confirm the person is who they say they are.
Scams and fraud
- Never send money or share financial details, however convincing the story may be (emergencies, trips, investments, cryptocurrencies).
- Beware of sextortion: do not send intimate images that could be used to blackmail you. If someone threatens to spread your content, do not pay, keep evidence and report it.
- Fake profiles: photos that are too perfect, very few photos, or inconsistent stories are warning signs. Report them.
Payments, meetups and services
- Pay only inside the app. Paid meetups and services are handled securely through Mon and Stripe. Never send money by bank transfer, instant payment or crypto to another user “to book”.
- Check the cancellation and refund conditions before buying a ticket or booking a service.
- Third-party events: tickets from Ticketmaster or other third parties are bought on their website, under their conditions; always check that you are on the official site.
Before meeting in person
- Meet in a public, busy place the first few times.
- Tell someone you trust: who you are meeting, where and at what time. Share your live location if you can.
- Arrange your own transport there and back; stay in control of how you arrive and leave.
- Do not lose sight of your drinks and limit your consumption of alcohol or other substances.
- Take a charged phone and have a plan to leave if you feel uncomfortable.
During and afterwards
- Trust your instinct. If something feels wrong, leave. You do not owe anyone an explanation.
- Consent is essential in any interaction, and it can be withdrawn at any time.
- Report and block any inappropriate behaviour from the app.
If you need help
- Emergencies: 112 (European Union).
- Gender-based violence (Spain): 016 (24 h support, leaves no trace on the phone bill).
- In the event of a crime, contact the police.
- To report behaviour on Mon: monsocial@rodriguezstudio.es.
Local resources and helplines will be added according to the countries where the app is available.
